How do I calculate acceleration using force and mass?

To calculate the acceleration using force and mass, do the following:

  1. Find the mass of the object in kg.
  2. Measure the force applied on it in Newtons.
  3. Calculate the acceleration by dividing the force by mass.
  4. This will give you the acceleration using the force and mass values!

For example, if a force of 50 N is applied to an object of mass 10 kg, then the acceleration experienced by it will be:
a = 50/10 = 5 m/s2

FAQ

What is the formula to find acceleration from force and mass?

a = F / m is the formula to find acceleration from force and mass values. So according to this formula, we'll do the following:

  1. We will measure the force (in Newtons) and mass (in kg).
  2. We will divide the force (in Newtons) by mass (in kg).
  3. This will give us the acceleration in m/s2.

What is the acceleration produced by a force of 12 N on a body of mass 3 kg?

4 m/s2 is the acceleration produced by a force of 12 N on a body of mass 3 kg. This is obtained by dividing the force value by the mass, which gives us:
12 N / 3 kg = 4 m/s2 as the acceleration.
